This 4th of July cake was for a very special person. My husband is currently deployed,and missed Father's day, and the 4th of July, when he came home for 2 weeks ago on leave we had a little luau and a special patriotic cake that combined the days that he missed!


Th cake is 3 tiers of pineapple cake with pineapple buttercream covered in marshmallow fondant. It was my 4 year old son's idea to make the fondant waves around the bottom tier, and helped make some of the decorations.

I added a lot of things that reminded me of Hawaii, hibiscus flowers, surf boards, pineapples, and of course a coconut tree complete with coconuts (thanks to my helper)! Then to top it all off we added a fondant American flag to the mix...and yup all 50 stars!!

Wow Sarah what a great patriotic cake. You must be very proud of your husband. That is so sweet that your 4 year old son helped you to decorate this very special cake for daddy. And the pineapple flavor sounds amazing. Great story and great photos of a fantastic entry. Thank you.

This cake is beautiful and completely made from the heart. It shows the love from her roots, Hawaii.......it shows the love and support for her husband and the support of our country......and the decorations are inspired with the help of her son. Such a beautiful cake!

Sarah worked a very long time to create the cake that was used to celebrate our countries independence day as well as her husband's homecoming. Great talent and such an eye for detail she has. And the cake was just as delicious as it was beautifully decorated.

This cake tasted every bit as good as it looked. Sarah truly delivered on this cake. The pineapple topper was simply a hint of what was waiting inside. Simply delicious. Moreover, the time, energy, and most of all, the love that went into this cake show in every detail. This cake has an amazing story and was made by and amazing lady.

Great Great GREAT !!!! The details in the Stars and Stripes looked amazing, the Pineapple the Waves, the entire theme reminded me of where you are, where you are from and where you are going. Great Job !!

This cake is awesome. My family and I lived in Hawaii for 7 years with the military and I am retired from the Air Force. My husband is still serving. This cake would be perfect for us - we love Hawaii and are very proud to serve! Great job!

My husband and I were stationed at Pearl Harbor for over 3 years and fell in love with the islands. Your husband told me all about the luau even before he went on leave. When he returned he showed me these pictures and I as amazed. Such a remarkable cake. I want a piece :-)
