Combined wedding cake flavors
by Margaret
(Cork)
I am making a three tiered cake with 3 different types of cake. The 1st tier a traditional fruit cake, the 2nd tier possibly a Madeira cake and the 3rd tier chocolate cake. How do I decorate it and would the wedding cake display be best on a tiered stand, on pillars or directly on top of each other? Hi Margaret, The flavor choices sound good. The type of decoration you use depends on your skill level and what the bride wants etc. Take a look at all of the wedding cake designs pages here on this site. That will help you come up with something.
The simplest way to display the cake in my opinion are the plastic pillars and plates. But again this depends on the style you are trying to achieve. For a simple country wedding a stacked cake with fresh flowers is appropriate. For a more majestic look use the pillars. They will make the cake taller. I hope this helps you out. Here is a link to my Madeira cake recipe, and my best chocolate cake recipe.
