Cutting Wedding Cake
by Tanya
(Illinois)
I have a question about cutting wedding cake versus a regular cake. I just made my first wedding cake, the bottom is a 16x4 square the middle is a 12x4 round and the top is a 8x4 round. I know how to cut a cake, but do I cut this thick of cake the same as any other cake. Thank you, by the way I used your site sooo many times during this whole cake making adventure! Hi Tanya, Thank you and I am so happy that my site has been a help to you for your first wedding cake.
I have a page that explains how to cut a wedding cake as well as how many pieces you should be able to get out of each size tier. Chart and directions on cutting wedding cake.
Make sure you have a good cake knife a container of hot water for dipping the knife between cuttings and a rag to wipe the knife with as well. Its messy so you may want to bring the cake into the kitchen and cut it out of site of the guests. I hope this helps you out with cutting your wedding cake.
