The almond icing which is a royal icing to which I added almond extract, and the cookie decorating idea came from Cookie Swap: Creative Treats to Share Throughout the Year

I prefer the shortbread recipe with almonds in the "Cookie Swap" but the day I made these I didn't have almonds in the house. Go figure! Any way the decoration is mostly what I wanted to show you. It's so pretty and not hard to do. It does take patience, but then again so does every decorating project.
