Pony Cake

This cake was for a little girls 3rd Birthday. The cake was an 8' chocolate with chocolate frosting. The disk in the middle of the cake and the pony were made a week before.

The tiny fondant flowers took some time so this saved time on the decoration day. I fixed the rope to the cake then dropped the disk and pony in the center. This allowed the little girl's Mum to take the hard fondant disk and pony out before cutting so that it could be played with. I use spaghetti pasta in figures, just in case a little person takes a bite.

I used a brown fondant for the pony and the bow. I ran a stitching line around the ribbon and bow, by leaving the fondant very thick it did look like a leather strap. For an older child I think I would have made a buckle instead of the bow if the child was really into horse riding.

The simple rose's just gave it that little extra girly look and gave me a place for my candles. I always add candles to my children's cake. I make sure they are part of the design and nice to look at before the cake is cut.
