Hello Kitty Cake
by Sue

This is my first Hello Kitty carved from 2 8" vanilla sponge cakes. It was for a little girl named Poppy, hence the poppy in place of the usual bow displayed on Kitty. Poppy loved it!! x I can see why Poppy loved her Hello Kitty Cake. Wow it's so adorable and well done. Thank you so much for sharing it with us on the cake decorating pictures page at Wedding Cakes For You.

Hello Kitty Birthday Cake

Hello Kitty Birthday Cake
My client requested a Hello Kitty cake for her granddaughter's 7th birthday. I had never carved a cake before and didn't think I could. However she had more confidence in me than I did!
I went on line and found a video showing how to carve the face. I enlarged a photo my client gave me and made a template. Working in two pieces, I first pinned the template of the kitty's face on a sheet cake and cut around it. The same with the body.
I frosted each, covered in fondant, and fit the two pieces together.
Really cute Hello Kitty Cake! Thank you Michelle for contributing to the cake decorating photos collection. Job well done :-) I am sure that the little girl receiving this cake was very happy.
Your fondant is very smooth and colored so well. did you paint on the surface with food coloring? or is it colored fondant? If possible can you add more details about your cake for us? You can send it to me via email cpastrychef@gmail.com or use my contact page. A recipe that you used would be great or a tip or two that may help another cake decorator. Thank you so much
More details from Michelle: Thanks for the glowing review! I used Satin Ice Fondant. It is expensive but is the smoothest fondant. I have made the marshmallow fondant before and while it tastes good it is not as smooth. I am going to keep trying on my own for smooth fondant. After covering the cakes, I painted them with luster dusts.

Another Hello Kitty Cake
by Athalia Lyons (Psych Out Cakes)
(Orlando, FL)
I made this Hello Kitty cake for a daughter of my friends. She was turning 7 a couple years ago and loved Hello Kitty. I was new to cake decorating at the time and used butter cream icing and royal icing to complete the cake. I also used a template that I found online and traced it onto the cake using the transfer method I learned from a Wilton Method class.
At the time when I made this cake, in 2009 I was very proud of it, and the little girl I made it for loved it so much that I have made all her birthday cakes each year since then. Now looking back I see the imperfections about it....but it was a fun cake to make!
Athalia, Your Hello Kitty Cake is adorable. Thank you for your contribution to the cake decorating pictures page. It looks like you did a royal icing run out for the dress? I remember doing the star tip fill in buttercream cakes. Actually here is a lion cake that I made using that same method and from the Wilton Book for my sons 4th birthday 25 years ago. Would love to see some of your recent cakes too. Feel free to add them at any time or join in at the Cake Decorating Contest anytime. They are on going and you can win prizes. Thank you very much :-)
